Sure you heard of Rayman; No, silly; not Rain Man, the flick with Tom Cruise and Dustin Hoffman; no; Rayman, the uber famous Gameloft/Ubisoft game character. If you didn’t you’ll be excused, as you seem to have spent the last ten years in prison or on a tropical island with no technology :). For you noobs out there, here’s the news: Rayman is the creation of Ubisoft and the hero of a lot of games who are now classics.
Naturally it went mobile: Rayman Raving Rabbids and Rayman Kart, the game I’m writing about rite now are two good examples. A classic? I don’t know. But I do know you shouldn’t miss it, especially if you like good old arcades.
What is this game about? The name says it all: it’s Rayman with… Karts :). You chose a character - a lot of them remain to be unlocked as you play - and here you go, let’s race!
Sounds simple, right? Not exactly: you find lots of power-ups you use to fight with your opponents with, or to add obstacles in their path to victory. This causes a lot of place changes during the race so you’ll never be sure of victory until you pass the finish line. Sure, your driving style and using of all possible bonuses might give the player a chance, but be always prepared for the unexpected. I mentioned driving style because here’s a little advice/tip to you, one that makes the difference between first and last places: you have to cut corners to gain speed.
You see? One more reason to worry: on top of your opponents, their traps and the racing time, you must also be careful to take every curve perfectly.
As usual, Gameloft offers a lot of game tracks and a lot of game modes to keep you coming for more. My score? 8 out of ten. Not a game to be missed.
