Tiny Twitter - best free mobile app of the day

After a looong Easter holiday, here we are, back with a tiny tiny review.
This time, it’s about a free mobile application, called TinyTwitter, a mobile J2ME client for Twitter.

What? You don’t know what Twitter is? Twitter is the latest buzz all around the web: a website/webservice made by the creators of Blogger and Odeo. Twitter creates the Instant Nano Blogging: a mix of instant messenging, blogging and SMS: you send small messages to a group of friends. These messages are also published on your Twitter page, making a sort of tiny blog. You can send your twitterings and receive your friends’ via the Web interface, or 3rd-party clients, of classic SMS (received SMS-es are free, you only pay for what you send).

The bottom line: you get addicted to Twitter very fast and you start to want to have it with you on the go. This is when you start discovering that, unless you have an unlimited SMS plan, you end up paying quite a bit your zillions daily sent SMS’es.

This is where TinyTwitter comes in: a free, tiny, widely compatible java app, that twitters via your GPRS data connection(usually much cheaper than SMS).

Simple and effective, this application allows you to send twitterings, receive those of your friends and that’s about all. But it works on most mobile phones, it’s easy to set up and use. It simply works. What else could a Twitter fan wish for?

if anyone has feature requests or find things that aren’t so good or need some love, let me know. i built tiny twitter as an application for me and now hoping to share that with others.
