Battlestar Galactica
Although I like SF books and films (please, someone, I’d really want to play a Dune mobile game, please :P), I never managed to watch a full episode of Battlestar Galactica, so I failed to become a fan (as plenty of my friends are). That’s probably one of the reasons I wasn’t impressed by the mobile game, either.
The game is a decent shooter. Decent, like in a little above the average, but still not breathtaking..
The really good graphics save it, they are probably this game’s best part, giving it at least a tiny feeling neighboring excitement and saving it from being ordinary. Well… don’t whip me; it’s just my humble opinion.
Why do I keep saying the game is not a great one? First of all, the gameplay(man, does it get on my nerves..): Lots of enemy ships that keep firing towards you and – at least in the first few stages – your fire is simply pathetic. To be more precise the rate of fire is horrible, come on, in the space age the fire couldn’t be any faster?!?
I personally don’t like the stages where the ship is moving in all directions: it’s a good idea but unfortunately poorly implemented: I keep crashing into enemy ships; much like the Asteroids classic arcade. Who knows, maybe it wasn’t my day when I’ve played it. Still, that’s a bit unlikely - as Alex mentioned once in a comment, I am paid to play mobile games, and that makes me an official gamer, I have my CV to prove it :D.
My point is that usually I get to feel after a few stages if a game is good or not.
And, about Battlestar Galactica, all I can say for sure is that it would have gotten at least 2 extra points from me - it could have been a lot better - if it were not for such tiny annoying details such as a stupid fire rate to spoil the gaming pleasure, or the stage where you move in all directions like a mouse in a cage ![]()
7 out of ten from me, all thanks to the really cool graphics that saved the day.
