Billy the Kid Wanted!

Billy the Kid I was browsing my phone games folder the other day looking for cool games that deserve being featured on our weekly selection when I stumbled upon Global Fun’s “Billy the Kid Wanted!“.

I started playing it. Hmm… made in 2005. I was circumspect, thinking that it’s an old game I’d probably delete after 5 minutes or so. Then it hit me. At first the music - different than anything I’ve encountered so far - a friend says it’s the soundtrack from “The good the bad and the ugly”. Still, soundtrack or not, it creates a good atmosphere, catching you and making you curious: how will the game be like? The western style is a fresh breeze, it feels good and is different than most of the games around.Billy the Kid

This game is great in its simplicity. I couldn’t say for sure if it’s a sort of arcade combined with a few RPG elements: ammo, medkits, several NPC(non-playing characters). I mentioned the simplicity: You move around shooting anything that moves. No complex targeting (it’s done automatically), plenty of enemies, it’s a game of reflexes: who shots first. Don’t tell me that you’ll pass a good old arcade; I am glad I didn’t.

The environment is pretty simple, but you won’t have a lot of time to get a good look at it. Ambushes in bars, houses and prisons, you trying to surprise the enemies in order to get Billy the Kid: he’ll always escape, making you want to go to the next level again and again. Billy the KidThe combination of game styles mentioned above is a great idea, making it stand out from the crowd: I’d say it’s a classic example of “oldies but goodies” donw well. It deserves its place here: although almost 2 years old (which is huge in this industry), it’s very good even by today’s standards. A refreshing title, you’ll live intensely every second of the few hours of gameplay. I know I did :-P.
