Do you remember Arkanoid? Maybe the free PC game Dxball rings a bell? What about Ricochet? In case you haven’t, you might have at least heard of the old 80’s - early 90’s classic games where you hit a ball using a pad, and try to break different bricks without losing the ball, all of it while collecting items/bonus points that fall from the broken bricks.
BlockBreaker Deluxe is Gameloft’s mobile take on the classic concept- pretty old, actually - 2004. Because the original concept is pretty good, there is not much to improve on it. Still, they are adding an epic background - you earn money that you’ll use to impress some game chick, and each finished level gives you access to some special items that the anime-like chick character seems to like (flowers, gifts, etc). There are some dialogs between stages, giving a hint of a story line. In my opinion, all this “plot” thing is a bit too much, I’d play Block Breaker for the sake of the action - mindless hitting the ball and collecting bonus points.
There are lots of stages (some of them you may call 2 in 1 because sometimes hitting special blocks completely change the scenery), grouped in unlockable areas, with tiny puzzles within.
The thing I personally like most about this game is that the bonuses are not eliminating each other as in the original 80’s game, but they add up into powerful combos(a concept present in the PC versions of the game as well). If you collect the ball-split combo several times you’ll have to juggle over a dozen balls. Imagine that in the same time you are able to fire at the blocks above. And, why not, all of it after having collected the pad augmentation item several times. Yes, you will finish the stage at super speed. But, hey, it’s your merit for being a great player :D.
The main changes from the original are: the above mentioned stage-changing switch tile, the fact that if you hit a metal tile several of times it will eventually be destroyed - this saves the player from frustration, believe me - and an item called yo-yo. What does the yo-yo do? - Imagine the situation above, dozens of balls flying in all directions. What if they ALL were attracted towards the pad? Nice, huh? - I like the yo-yo ![]()
All in all, Block Breaker is a pretty enjoyable game. Probably a bit too old, but still a fun little game to have on you cellphone, for the brief 5 minutes of waiting for the bus.

I’d like to know how or where I can play this exact game online. I love this game to death and cannot get enough of it. I have purchased it for three of my families 5 cell phones and would really love to be able to play on my home computer or laptop. Please let me know how. Thanks so much I look forward to your response.
I doubt you’ll find this exact game online, but I’ll take a look and see what I can find. You’ll probably find various free games similar to it (clones) - see the two ones mentioned above, as well as online flash versions…
It would be a solution to play this exact game, and that is using an emulator. If you can cope with the small screen and instability sometimes this is a good solution for you.
And here is a usefull link, i wasn’t sure if the PC version was released, you’re in luck:

[...] Block Breaker a pretty nice implementation of the classic concept. There are some hints of a plot around, but all in all it’s a classic ball/paddle and bricks game. [...]
